Using ICT in Room 3

Well it's nearly the end of the term and we are busy putting together all of the information we have learnt about Vikings.  We are creating information books using book creator on the ipads.  We are using the laptops and touch screen to find facts and complete more research.
As you can see in the pictures, we are all busy working in our tribes.

We are also eating fruit, which keeps us going!

A Very Windy Night!!

We have lots of tired children today, after the windy storm we had last night.  We decided to do some creative writing about the wind, using language features such as similes, metaphors and alliteration to make our writing juicy.

We wrote one together then the children had a go at writing their own.  check them out!

The Westerly Wind
The wind whistled and whined, as it whipped from the west.
It hit the house, like stampeding herd of bulls.
Its roar shook the windows, like an earthquke.
It rattled the chimney, as if it were an empty tin can.
Trees snapped like matchsticks.
Rubbish bins exploded onto the streets.
Houses creaked and groaned, like ghostly spirits screaming.
Sleep was an impossible task!
Litter, leaves, logs and lonely letterboxes left scattered.
All is quiet, the storm has passed.
Time for the clean up to begin.

The storm
The wind hit the house like a herd of rhinos.
The wind made tiles rittle and rattle.
Glass shattered like ripping paper.
The rain hit the windows, like rock hitting rock.
The wind passes, it was messy like my room.
For days, and days it might go on, but no one knows.
The clean up began.
By Nivvy

The Thrashing Wind!
Thrashing wind going through Christchurch, as the lightning follows.
Massive pieces of corrugated iron flying through the air.
Big old trees roots are ripping out of the ground.
The trampolines were flying like a plane crashing.

Then we added our sail and dragon heads.  We also added oars for people to row the boat.
Then we have finally completed our viking ship.

The Room Three children are painting  the flags and oars, for the Room Three magnificently fantastic, best viking play ever.

The viking ship construction

Our Viking ship is almost complete.  The oars are in and they can be used to lift the boat.  We just needed the paddles for the oars and the sail.

The viking ship construction part 2

Then we measured the box to the polystyrene to put the box in the middle. After that Mr Scott glued the box to the boat. The boys are getting the glue off the wood for our sail. We had to mark the inside of the boat, then we cut the marks and place our shields at the edge.

The viking ship construction for our viking play

Yesterday we were painting the boat brown to look like wood. Today we are glueing our ship together.
Then we used foam to make our boat stronger. Mr Scott glued the foam to the boat.

Welcome to Room's Blog.  This is a place where we will be sharing our learning.  It will also be a great place for children to reflect on their new learning.  We hope you enjoy it and please leave a comment.  We look forward to hearing from you.
